The Perfume Pagoda was very impressive. Since we went during Tet Festival time, when many Vietnamese make a pilgrimage here, it was very crowded. We were about the only non Asians so were quite the celebrities, but everyone was nice and yelling hello to us. Our guide, Frank, was very knowledgable, not only about what we were seeing, but about Vietnam, Vietnamese culture, and even world politics and economics as they relatd to and impacted Vietnam.

Staying a night at Mai Chau is so peaceful compared to the constant honking of vehicles in downtown Hanoi. There are trekking, biking and a cooler weather. I love the cycling in between padi fields and being able to take closeup photos of water buffaloes, ducks, chickens and goats. Going to the local morning wet market enables us to experience the local culture and the diverse food of the locals.
