Overview

Lao Chai village is a village of the Black H'Mong ethnic group, located 7-8 km southeast of Sapa town, visitors can come to Lao Chai table from Sapa without spending too much time on traveling. Coming to Lao Chai village, visitors can contact and learn about the culture and customs of ethnic minorities in the northern mountainous region. Lao Chai is a village consisting of three large villages with more than 100 ethnic minority H' mong ethnic minority households.

From the high point of the main road of 8 km from Sapa town to the village, visitors can admire a panorama of Lao Chai village, which is behind high mountains and facing the river. H'mong people in this village live on intensive rice cultivation in the lowlands near the foot of the valley. This is considered their main source of income besides growing corn on the mountain slopes behind the village

Most of the Giay people living in northern Vietnam live in traditional stilt houses, however, in Lao Chai village with sun and cultivated land, the house of Giay families. It was almost minimalist, and often with simple furniture on the ground floor. In Lao Chai, the Giay still maintain their livelihood and life in the same way as the H'mong people by raising livestock and taking care of the terraced fields growing infinitely on the hillsides. It is a figure typical image of the topography of the northern mountainous region.

Black H' mong communities still retain many traditional customs, especially child marriage. Most of the Black H' mong households depend on farming and land and rely solely on income from the sale of textiles at local markets. Only when buying livestock or household utensils, the Black Hmong need money because most of their food is grown by themselves. Coming to Lao Chai village, visitors will experience the culture, customs, and life of the Black H' mong people and admire the images of terraced fields bearing the characteristics of the Northern mountainous region.
